Outpatient clinic

The multidisciplinary outpatient clinic of the Huntington Center of Expertise Topaz Overduin is set up for people with Huntington's disease living at home. During a day at the clinic you will visit our specialized practitioners. You speak with the doctor, psychologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, dietician and a social worker. If you prefer, your partner or caregiver can be present.

Brisk walking program for people with Huntington's disease

At Topaz, staying active is a priority. Twice a week, nearly thirty people with Huntington’s disease take part in a walking program led by a physical therapist in the dunes of Katwijk.

The varied terrain (sand, shells, grass) offers a safe way to train balance, coordination, and walking skills. Along the route, participants also practice e.g. walking backwards, stepping over obstacles and stair climbing. These activities are designed to make everyday movements easier.
